Google

Search and everyday information

Google is the main search and discovery app for Android, suited to people who want one place to look up facts, websites, news, local information and answers. It supports typed and spoken searches, while its connection to the wider Google service makes it useful for quick checks throughout the day. The app is developed by Google LLC and belongs to the Tools category.

Ways to search

Text is only one way to use the app. Voice input helps when typing is inconvenient, while visual search tools can identify objects, read or translate text, and help with other information visible through the camera. On supported devices, Circle to Search can search for content shown on screen without requiring a separate trip to the browser. The app can also recognise a tune when you hum or whistle part of it.

Discover and personal results

Beyond direct searches, the app can present a personalised Discover feed with articles, sports updates and other topics based on a user’s interests. This is useful for people who want relevant information to appear without building every search from scratch. Results and suggestions vary according to account settings, activity and location, so the experience is not identical for everyone.

Scale and user record

With a listed rating of 4.07 out of 5 from more than 28.9 million reviews, Google is one of the most widely used tools on Android. Its listing shows 10,000,000,000+ installs, reflecting how often it is included as part of the standard Android experience. It suits users who need broad web access, voice and camera-based search, or a steady stream of selected information in one familiar app.
