Chrome Beta

Chrome Beta for Android

Chrome Beta is Google’s preview build of its Chrome web browser for Android. It is aimed at people who want to try browser changes before they reach the standard Chrome release, while still using Chrome to visit websites, search the web and manage everyday browsing from a phone or tablet.

Who it suits

This version makes the most sense for curious users, developers and testers who are comfortable with features that may still be under development. New browser changes can be useful to explore early, but a beta release may also behave less consistently than the regular version. If you prefer a settled browsing experience, the standard Chrome app is the simpler choice.

What the beta channel offers

• Access to newer Chrome features before they are broadly available.
• A separate app that can be used alongside the current Chrome version.
• A way to send feedback that can help shape future Chrome releases.

Scale and reputation

Chrome Beta is published by Google LLC and listed in the Productivity category. It has a 4.38 rating from more than 583,000 reviews and has been downloaded over 50 million times. Those figures show a large audience for Google’s early-release browser channel, although they do not remove the usual trade-off of testing software that is still being refined.
